[GBM ENews List] Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays team GBM!!!

A brief note of season's greetings and thanks to all who have helped make this another great year for our team, concluding last weekend with a very successful BU meet.

I would like to echo Coach Crystie's thanks to all the folks who made this possible:

  • Boston University Fit Rec Center Staff for ALL that they do

  • Doug Sayles, NE-LMSC registrar

  • Our officials - led by Bob and Priscilla!

  • Simmons Swim & Crew for providing back up timing on Saturday & Sunday

  • Joe Fraier from Swimwear in Motion for supporting your swim supply needs

  • Great Bay Masters - Bart & Jacqui & volunteers for the concession stand

  • NELMSC & NEM for all their support

This list of course omits a most important person, our team hero Coach Crystie herself, to whom we owe special thanks for the many key roles that she plays for our team: coach, meet director and promoter, recruiter. She ably manages and coaches the programs at Dover and Portsmouth, directs three excellent meets each year at Exeter, JT and BU, and plays a wider role in our LMSC as Coaches Chair supporting masters coach development around the region. Behind the scenes she has developed strong relationships with key partners, spending considerable time in planning, preparation and problem solving to ensure that our workouts are varied, challenging and enjoyable and our meets are professional, well organized and a great experience for swimmers. On behalf of all of us I want to thank her for sterling endeavors and to congratulate her on another very successful year. Under her leadership our team is prospering.

I would also like to heartily thank the very many folks who have been generous with their time and efforts supporting the team throughout the year, notably our Board and our many volunteers.

I very much appreciated spending time with many of you on deck at BU last weekend enjoying the spirit and camaraderie of our team. Congratulations on great swimming! There will be a fuller meet report in due course.

Please keep our friend and and team mate Darwin and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Warmest good wishes

Guy

[GBM ENews List] BU meet - volunteers welcome

Hi Team
I hope your swimming is going well and that everyone entered for BU is raring to go and ready for relays!
As many of you know, this meet is hosted and managed by GBM under Crystie's able meet direction. Bart and Jacqui have again graciously volunteered to manage the food concession at the meet.  These additional elements are important to the overall financial success of the meet, which in turn supports our team throughout the year.  We would be delighted for any VOLUNTEERS from the team, friends and family, to help out with the concessions throughout the weekend.  If you are able to help at any time through the weekend, please let Bart and Jacqui know or tell the folks who are working the food and meet T-shirt concession.  I really don't understand why, but some GBM partners attending our meets actually find working the concession more interesting than watching the swimming! ;)
Thanks for your support.
Go GBM!!

[GBM ENews List] Fwd: BU Meet

Hi team GBM

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you on deck this weekend at BU.

As many of you know, our friend and team-mate Darwin will not be with us this weekend. As a gesture of support and solidarity for Darwin we would like to invite you to join us wearing purple ribbons (a symbol of awareness and support for pancreatic cancer sufferers as well as for other causes). Crystie and Kevin have ribbons for anyone on the team who would like wear one. I know that this message sets a somber tone, but I also know that Darwin will want us to enjoy our time at the meet and to celebrate and enjoy the camaraderie of our team as he always has in his irrepressible, big-hearted style.

Guy

(PS apologies if you are getting this for the second time, I used the incorrect group email list before so I am resending to be sure it circulates to the team)
