3. Registrations open for Clean Harbor Swim (1.2mile, Gloucester Harbor, MA,
August 13th)
Message from Richie Martin:
Registration for the Clean Harbor Swim is opening June 1st. You will be able to
download a registration form from our website
https://home.comcast.net/~clean.harbor.swim/index.htm. If you plan to swim,
get your application in early as I expect the swim to fill to capacity (125
entrants), within a few weeks. Once registration closes I will not accept any
more entries even if there are cancellations. There is no waiting list. The
Coast Guard is very strict with this event and in order for it to continue I
have to follow their regulations.
The weather has improved and many swimmers have finally been able to take their
training to the outdoors. Check out the New England Marathon Swimming
Associations website http://www.nemarathonswimassoc.org/.

Fly Clinic May 15 Dover Indoor Pool

Great Bay Masters is excited to welcome Aagje (Atie) Caron to run a 2 hour
Butterfly Stroke Clinic for our team! It will be during practice Sunday, May
15th, from 9-11am at the Dover Indoor Pool.

Atie is a long time member of Great Bay Masters and since 1990 she has amassed
136 individual Top Ten swims and 16 relay Top Ten swims. The majority of these
swims are in events such as the 100 & 200 Breaststroke, 200 Fly, and 400 IM. Not
only has she excelled in the pool but she also has extensive coaching experience
over the past 17 years. This includes Head Coach of an Age Group team, coaching
masters, and working with individuals who range from beginners through elites
and triathletes.

Just for us she is going to break down the stroke of butterfly into the basics
and then progressively rebuild it with the ultimate goal of creating maximal
efficiency and power output. She is going to start with descriptions and
diagrams of the major muscle groups involved in the stroke and how to engage
them while swimming. Then move to the in water breakdown and finally the full
stroke.

This is an exciting opportunity for Great Bay Masters Members and we hope to see
you all there!
