[GBM ENews List] TWO Social's this week & Harvard Recap!

Hello GBM'ers!

Spring is here and so are our Socials!  Two this week:

***************************************************************************************************

Better late than never (my bad)- here is our recap from the awesome March Meet, written by the wonderful Gail Pentheny!

Harvard SCY Champs 2014:

One of Great Bay's most successful performances at a regional meet in recent memory! For the first time in 4 years GBM pushed past Bearcat Masters for a stellar (and well earned!) 2nd place finish!

What was it that led to our success? We know Coach Crystie always gives us an edge. Her incredible dedication to preparing us for this event was, as it always it, second to none. We are a very lucky team indeed!

But there's more to this story. I think the 45 swimmers who were at Harvard will agree, there was something special happening in the pool and on the deck this year. So was it the record half dozen first timers braving their first big meet? The quiet return of a handful of veteran GBM'ers? The Fearless Foursome of 100+ Points Scorers? Or was it the epic Rainbow Cheetah suits? Now those were just plain awesome! There were so many accomplishments at this year's Regional SCY Championship meet it's hard to pinpoint what gave us the edge this year. So let's get right to the stats…

  • Ali J swam the same total distance in individual as relay events!
  • Christophe- swam more relay events than individual events!  Including an awesome 100 fly in the relay!
  • Martin C- most scratched events - but showed up with a vengeance on Sunday with super speedy relay splits!
  • Robina - the most reading ever done at a masters meet helped her swim her 200 IM 25 seconds faster than she predicted!
  • Joann- 200 backstroke split champion (last 50 was the 2nd fastest split)!
  • A special thank you for Christina Cook for showing up to race despite all odds!

Relay Speedsters!
